BACCARA

The player tries to predict which of the two hands, Player’s or Bank’s, will get the closest total to 9, which is the highest value for a baccara hand. Baccara is played with six or eight packs of cards dealt from a shoe.

THE BETS

Players may wager on the Player’s hand or on the Bank’s hand. If they bet on the hand of the Bank, they must add, in the indicated place, a commission equal to 5% of their stake. They can also bet on Equality. The bets must be placed before the first card is drawn from the hoof. Players make their bet respecting the minimum and maximum limits indicated at the table. These limits may vary from one table to another.

THE CARDS

The 10s and the figures are 0, the aces are 1 and all the other cards have their nominal value. The value of a hand is equal to the last digit of the sum of the cards. For example: 10 + 4 + 9 = 13. The value of this hand is 3.

THE DATA

At each turn, the first and third cards drawn from the hoof constitute the Player’s hand and the second and fourth cards, the hand of the Bank. Once the cards are dealt, the dealer announces the total of each hand. If the total of one of two hands, each consisting of two cards, is 8 or 9, the hand is called « Natural » and no other cards are drawn, neither for the Player’s hand, nor for the hand of the Bank. Otherwise, a third card may be drawn, as the case may be, for the Player’s hand or for the Bank’s hand.
